General Comments

It was another strong week for the Precious Metals, with Gold gaining $42.20 per ounce or 4.67% to close at $944.30, up from $902.10, while Silver advanced by $.96/oz or 5.63% to finish at $17.99, up from $17.03. Elsewhere, Platinum prices continued there record advance gaining $81/oz, or 3.89% to close at $2159/oz, up from $2078 per ounce the week prior. With the robust moves in underlying metals, mining stocks also sprung to life with the XAU gaining 12.62 index points or 7.11% to close at 189.94, up from 177.32 the prior week, while the HUI ended high by 6.90% to close at 465.10, up from 435.06. In the Junior Mines, the week saw healthy gains with the FSO Junior Mining Index ending at 270.04, up 14.98 from the prior weeks close of 255.06, a gain of 5.87%. For the FSO Junior Mining Index, the 50 day average ended at 266.92, with the 200 day average at 282.89. Junior Producers also gained ground, the index advancing by 4.39% to close at 273.98, up from 262.44. For the Junior Producer Index, the 50 day average finished at 274.64, with the 200 day average ending at 289.02. Development Stocks advanced nicely with the FSO Junior Development Index ending at 517.98, up from 486.34 the prior week, with the 50 day average ending at 482.39, and the 200 day average ending at 517.13. Exploration Stocks also finished with healthy gains, with the FSO Exploration Index ending at 181.76, up 10.82 index points or 6.32% from the prior week close of 170.94; for the exploration stocks, the 50 day average finished at 184.33, with the 200 day average at 194.90.
