Phase Transition - False Hope to Reality
by Doug Tjaden. February 23, 2009
PrintIt appears as though we are on the cusp of the next (of several) phases in this global economic crisis. The phase we just went through lasted roughly from August of 2008 through the first of this month. This phase included identifying our problems, getting through the smoke and mirrors, initial false promises of recovery, and the beginning of finger pointing among the nations. It was a phase where the crisis was centered on the banking system and the financial economy. It was a phase where the majority (but not all) of the problems that we are facing was revealed.
It is time now for the next phase. This is the phase where the people of this country and of the entire world begin to awaken to the reality of our present situation, and that reality begins to find its way into world markets. This is the phase where the depth and breadth of the problems we face will be revealed. With this revelation, any remaining hopes of a quick recovery will be dashed on the rocks of reality, and people will begin to actually deal with the crisis. It is a phase where the crisis deepens, not just in the financial economy and the banking system, but in the real economy and in the very life blood of all economic activity - the currency markets.
The competitive devaluation of the world’s currencies will accelerate, as national leaders try to maintain a competitive advantage in a rapidly shrinking pool of global consumers. This is a very dangerous phase, as nations will increasingly be driven to “protect” their interests, casting aside the glorious global economy that just a few months ago was so warmly embraced. This will occur as impotent politicians attempt to maintain their power through rhetoric and deceit. It is the phase where they keep spinning the same spin - and the people quit buying it.
It is during this phase where the character of the nation will begin to be tested. The test will be far from complete however. There are important questions beginning to emerge, the answers which will have repercussions that will last for generations. Will our nation pull together as in hard times past? Will it succumb to the full court press of socialism that is now being forced upon it? Will there be a rebellion against this socialist movement, and if so, will it be peaceful or will the seeds of a violent revolt be planted? These questions will not be answered during this phase, which I suspect will last from three to nine months. However, during it, we will be able to identify trend lines that will outline the path we must all be prepared to walk in the years to come.
The final answer to the questions above will ultimately be determined by the leadership of this nation. Not just the present leadership, although the current administration will certainly have a say in the outcome. It will also depend on which people arise in our individual communities, our churches, our states, and our nation to lead an increasingly disenchanted public through the coming difficult times. Will these leaders be of the character of our Founding Fathers, or will they be loose cannons bent on extracting vengeance on those currently in power? Will they cast vision or will they pander to emotion and fear?
We are entering into a very critical time period now. These crucial leaders will begin to emerge during this phase. It is during the following phase - where people put into action their frustration - that these new leaders will be empowered to lead their various constituencies in the direction they have purposed in their hearts. If history is any guide, the following phase will be an intense period of defining ideological lines by which the new leaders’ plans are to be implemented - either for good or for evil.
We will need to exercise discernment as these new leaders emerge. Those who carry an agenda that will be harmful to our national sovereignty, our families and our future will need to be opposed. Some of those whose desires seem to match our own will turn out to be wolves in sheep’s clothing. Their methods of bringing about change would bring destruction rather than reform. Those leaders who cast a vision and are able to articulate an agenda that will provide us with a realistic path through the coming years, which will lead to an outcome that will honor God and the vision of our Founding Fathers, will come under opposition from their enemies the likes of which we haven’t witnessed in this nation in a very long time. They will be vilified, persecuted and if possible prosecuted for daring to stand up and oppose the forces of evil that are in love with a dishonest monetary system which enables them to steal from and enslave others at will.
These leaders, when identified, will need every bit of encouragement and support you can give them.
Increasingly I am becoming aware of a growing group of people who are ready and willing to stand for the principles given to us by our Founding Fathers. These include our national sovereignty, the rights of the states, limited federal government, sound money, the ability of people to express their faith openly, and the very idea of freedom and liberty for “we the people.” We are entering a time period where the DNA will be set for how this battle will be fought as new leaders arise within this group. And how it is fought will be the determining factor of whether or not it will be successful. This is the history we are poised to begin making in the months ahead.
